Duluth Civitan History

May 20, 2003  

Duluth Civitan Club Chartered.  Club Builders include Cheryl Adams (Crouch), Terry Swaim, Chuck Hartman and 2002-2003 Georgia North Governor Terry Crouch.  The Club was chartered with 36 new members.  The first Club President was Bob Watson.
2003 – 2004   Club received Civitan International’s Honor Club Award, Distinguished Club President Jordan
2003 – 2004   Club Received Civitan International Award –2nd Place – Best New Club in all of Civitan
2004 – 2005

2004 – 2005   Erica Dumpel received Duluth Civitan Club’s Honor Key
October 2004   1st year working our Booth and Clean-up at the Duluth Fall Festival. In October 2003, sold Sausage Biscuits.
2005 – 2006   Cheryl Crouch elected as Georgia District Area I Director
2005 – 2006   Loren Brown’s Father, Mike Brown elected as Civitan International’s President Elect.

Hosted 1st Mayor’s State of the City Address by
Mayor Shirley Lasseter at Kurt’s Restaurant
2005 – 2006   CI’s Honor Club Award to Distinguished Club President Tew
Jan. 06 & Feb. 07   Hosted Mayor Shirley Lasseter’s State of City Address at new Duluth Public Safety Facility
March 2008   Hosted New Mayor and Member Nancy Harris’s SOCA at New City Hall
2006 – 2008   Terry Crouch elected as Civitan International Director
2006 – 2007   Sandy Huff received Duluth Civitan Club Honor Key
2007 – 2008   Loren Brown’s Father, Mike Brown is our CI President
January 2009   Hosted Mayor Nancy Harris State of City Address at Korean TV Ballroom.  169 attending.
August 2009   Club received CI Honor Club Award, Melvin Buchanan – Distinguished Club President for year 2007 -2008, Terry Crouch elected  District Area Director 09-11 and District Foundation Trustee. Sandy Huff  received the District’s best Club Newsletter Award. Richard Hoovestol awarded Club Honor Key posthumously.   The Club was / will be award the CI Honor Club award with President Loren Brown being a Distinguished Club President for the year 2008-2009.
September 2009   Loren Brown awarded Duluth Civitan Club Honor Key.  Our Charities are Annandale, Creative Enterprises, Rainbow Village and Driving Magic. 
January 2010   Host Mayor Harris’ State of City Address at 1st United Methodist Church
August 2010  

Phil McLemore awarded the Duluth Civitan Club Honor Key
Terry Crouch awarded CI 50 members recruitment plaque. Decision made to move State of City Address to the Gwinnett Center.  Club again and annually continues to participated in the Duluth Fall Festival – - Selling Snow Cones, Water and Face Painting – - made approximately $1500.
October 2010   Club begins the year with 41 members with new member Jerry Robb as our President.
December 2010  

It should be noted that Club Newsletters by editors Terry Crouch and Sandy Huff, Minutes of Board Meetings and Business Meetings, and Civitan Int’l and District Records will serve as more history and documentation on our Club.  Terry Crouch holds much of this in his computer as of this date.
